We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team on a contract basis in Richmond, Virginia. This role involves overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and providing essential support during audits. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in governmental accounting, process improvement, and advanced technical skills to excel in this position.

Responsibilities:
• Serve as a liaison between various departments to ensure financial data is accurately communicated and integrated into month-end processes.
• Prepare financial reports, including variance analysis, and make necessary adjusting entries.
• Conduct account reconciliations and assist with audits by providing detailed documentation and analysis.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement process improvements.
• Utilize advanced Excel skills to analyze financial data and generate reports.
• Manage multiple deadlines effectively and ensure timely completion of financial tasks.
• Provide recommendations for streamlining workflows and enhancing efficiency.
• Support project management initiatives related to accounting and financial reporting.
• Maintain compliance with governmental accounting standards and regulations.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and stakeholders.• A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on month-end close and financial reporting.
• Proven expertise in general ledger management and financial statement preparation.
• Strong knowledge of governmental accounting practices and standards.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions and data analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder collaboration.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Experience with account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Project management experience is highly desirable.
